Our Curbing Process
Curbing is a concrete product installed at your property using specialized small machines. Unlike traditional methods that require cement trucks and forms, we mix the concrete onsite with custom equipment. This streamlined process allows us to complete most jobs in just one day, minimizing disruption to your property and maximizing efficiency.
At Artisan Borders, we pride ourselves on our meticulous approach to curbing installation. Here's an overview of our step-by-step process:
Step 1: Site Assessment and Layout
-
Upon arrival at your home or business, our crew will begin setting up while consulting with you to determine the layout and placement of your new curbing.
-
After your approval, the designated areas will be marked with spray paint, measured, and any necessary ground preparation will be carried out.
Step 2: Concrete Mixing
-
With the prep work complete and our equipment in place, we will proceed to mix the concrete onsite. Our custom mix design includes Portland cement, mason sand, and admixtures for optimal performance.
-
If desired, integral color can be added at this stage to complement existing tones or patterns.
Step 3: Material Transport
-
The mixed materials will be transported to the curbing machine using a motorized wheelbarrow with wide tires, minimizing impact on your grass or topsoil.
Step 4: Extrusion and Finishing
-
Once the concrete is extruded from the machine, our skilled crew will carefully finish the rough concrete using specialized trowels. The expertise of our operators and finishers ensures a flawless end result.
Step 5: Stamping and Detailing
-
For stamped curbing, secondary colors are applied to the wet concrete before your chosen stamp or texture is pressed in. Control cuts and expansion joints are then strategically cut to enhance durability and aesthetics.
Step 6: Continuous Installation
-
While one batch of curbing is being installed, preparations for the next mix are underway. Our experienced crew can lay anywhere from 80 to 175 feet per hour, depending on the type of curbing being installed.
Step 7: Final Touches and Sealant
-
After the completion of the curbing installation, our team will clean the property and ensure that all equipment and materials are safely stored away.
-
If necessary, colored curbing will be sealed to enhance longevity and appearance. A final walkthrough will be conducted with you, covering any aftercare instructions to ensure your satisfaction with the finished product.
At Artisan Borders, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional quality and service throughout every step of the installation process.
